Monsters of Illusion is a new d20 Fantasy PDF Sourcebook from Reality Deviant Publications

Monsters of Illusion is a 27-page sourcebook that delves into new areas of the realm of illusion. It provides a number of new monsters and spells that have ties to the realm of illusion. In this PDF are a variety of creatures, a few illusion-based spells and a few other interesting items.

Contained within are 6 new creatures like the cat-like Asnae, the fair and seductive Uilloctul, and the Shimmer Dragon, as well as 6 illusion spells like the Alluring Voices, Betrayal’s Delusion, and Confuse Tracks. Not only are the creatures laid out as one would expect, but adventure hooks are provided to inspire a GM on ways to use these creatures in his adventures. Also included are 2 NPCs created from creatures in the PDF as well as The Pendant of the Siren, a new magic item.

The PDF ends with a detailed look at a new area, Fordrusil Forest that includes a map of the region. A general description of the area tells the reader what to expect as you enter the region. Following that is a set of rumors one can find out about through gather information rolls including their DC values. It ends with a short description of three locations of note like the Tomb of Kaelon Duvarr and the Bone Castle.

In conclusion, this PDF is short but interesting. The layout is reasonably professional and the art is marginally better than most PDF of this kind. In particular, the cover art is very attractive. The concepts are inspiring and interesting and the writers obviously have a passion for what they do.
