Sathar Reimagined
I have been thinking about ways I can make the Sathars more menacing, scary and threatening for an adult game in Star Frontiers universe. At the same time, I am using Savage Worlds and I have been “Savaging” everything else – reimaging and stat’ing them out for Savage Worlds. This is my little project to take the Sathar’s to a Savage level!
Sathar are long, worm-like creatures. Their bodies are divided into segments, like an earthworm’s. The Sathar are long, worm-like creatures. Their bodies are divided into segments and they do not have an internal skeleton. Instead, they support their bodies hydrostatically, by pumping liquid into the segments so they become hard. A shiny, clear slime coats their skin. They can vary the liquid pressure based on the situation, giving them the ability to harden their skin like armor in combat. However, the draw is that they are vulnerable if they are unaware the attack is coming.
Special Ability: Conditional Natural Armor
When in combat, the Sathar can harden up his Armor based on the Rank of the NPC. Novice +2, Seasoned +4, Veteran or higher +6. However, this bonus only applies after the first round of attack. The easiest way to kill a Sathar is when it is unaware of the attack (gain the Drop) or the first round of combat. This is partially why the Sathars prefer to attack with overwhelming odds.
A Sathar’s head tapers toward its mouth, which is circular and ringed with teeth. However, the muscles around the mouth are very elastic and the teeth extendable. With this, the Sathar’s have an enveloping biting attack on their opponents, after a successful grapple attack. A Sathar can envelope an entire man’s head, given a successful grapple.
Special Attack: Enveloping Bite Attack
With a successful Tentacle Grapple, the Sathar can open his mouth wide to envelop a head, hand or leg. It’s teeth dig in deep tp give the envelope an increased STR one die type. The Attack itself does STR +d6 and the teeth continue to STR+d4 until the person is freed in some way. THis is an additional Grapple attack and must be broken like the Tentacle grapple.
Each of their two eyes has two pupils.
Special Ability: Low Light Vision.
Special Ability: 270 degree vision. Reduces the bonus from Getting The Drop by 1
Four tentacles, two on each side of the body, are arranged about 1 meter below the head. The first pair is slender and weak-looking, and about 1 meter long. These end in four smaller finger-like tentacles. The second pair of tentacles is stronger and about 1.2 meters long. Both of these tentacles end in a paddle-like pad. This second pair is used for heavy lifting, while the smaller tentacles are used for fine work and for holding small weapons.
A Sathar moves by slithering across the ground with the first meter of its body raised. They also can coil like a snake, raising 1.5 meters of their bodies from the ground.
The color of Sathar skin varies from yellow to brown. The tentacles are the same as the body, but with a slight greenish tint. The underbelly is pale pink. A pattern of dots, speckles and stripes decorates the back of the head. These patterns are natural on some Sathar, but are tattoos on others.
Some survivors of Sathar attacks have reported that Sathars are not effected by electrical shocks or doze grenades, but these reports have never been confirmed.

High Blood Pressure ??
Scientists believe they are warm-blooded, but no live specimen has ever been studied.
