Star Trek: Ascendancy (MACE 2017)

This is the first time I played this game with the new expansions.  Both were played with a 4 player game, leaving the Romulans out.

I think most of the players played conservatively at the beginning.  That tends to make the game go longer.  I was the Feds and I purposely tried to always find new space rather than connect to existing space.   That’s the whole point of the Feds – boldly go where no one has gone before.  In the end, I could not find enough new phenomenon or new civilizations. I eventually became the  punching bag of the Klingons

After about 4 hours of play, we all basically had 2 Ascension but the Klingons were making their move.  Up until then, the Ferengi were making serious progress.  They are insidious.  The more they spread, the more they produced.  I like that aspect of the race.  They were the most interesting of the two new expansions.  The Kardasians were somewhat interesting but I don’t think their potential was reached simply because they were new and it was a new player.  I would like to try it again.
