Starship Tech: No.1 Atlantis Class Cruiser is a new d20 Future PDF Sourcebook from Fat Dragon Games.
There are few things more valuable to a sci-fi GM than a good set of desk plans. Fat Dragon has started a series for d20 Future (or any other sci-fi game for that matter) with good quality CG renderings and quality deck plans.
From page #3:
“Tom Tullis has worked as a freelance aviation artist and technical illustrator for 15 years and has illustrated over 100 books on aeronautics.”
The credits to the CG artists impressed me right off the bat, not to mention the cover art. This particular PDF covers the Atlantis Class Cruiser. It measured over 500 feet in length and is comprised of 4 levels. A bold effort but one that could probably only be done in PDF.
The PDF e-book starts out with an overview of the ship with a general description of its design and a CG 3-D picture of it. This is followed by a detailed layout of the outer hull pointing out the locations of weapons, sensors, and defense. These are also accompanied by three different renderings of the ship from three different views (top, bottom and side).
The d20 statistics are next, putting it in terms of a PL 6 ship, with all the vital numbers nicely laid out. Following this is a small map of the different decks in nice full color graphics, as well as a room by room description of the more important areas of the ship.
From page #3:
“This PDF series of starship designs was created to bring you the most realistic designs possible for your games.”
What has been described until now has taken up about a dozen pages. The remaining 50 or so are the deck plans, page my page, so one can print them out and make a large scale map of the ship. This can be printed out in color but it would take a lot of ink or toner. It is an awesome looking deck plan that I am anxious to work into my game.
In conclusion, this is a good product and a good series. I am going to monitor their website regularly for more additions to this series. As I said, there are few things more valuable to a sci-fi GM than a good set of desk plans, and these are awesome!
