The Cult of Lillith – In the HPL story The Horror at Red Hook, there is indications that the cult in question is related to the Jewish demon mythology surrounding Lillith.  The above quote from Wikipedia gave me an idea to relate this to the woman’s suffrage movement.  Lillith sounded like a very “liberated” woman and perhaps as a result of her demon influence, a group of woman used the suffrage movement to recruit for the cult.

Women Suffrage in American ended in 1919-1920 with the passing of the amendment, so this cult would have to be old by the time of the adventure.  But this can be used as early history to give it depth beyond the story and beyond the adventure.

Subplot idea

Early on, a group of women, and their dominated men (through powers granted to them by Lillith) recruited from the homeless single mothers of Red hook.  Once under the power of Lillith, these single others gave their babies up to their god.

After hearing reports of strange occurrences, the police raid a building in Red Hook claiming it was an illegal brothel.   A big controversy arose because others claimed it was an illegal search of a suffrage movement headquarters.
