Through browsing various databases of cheesy sci-fi and fantasy films, I ran across one I did not recognize at all. I consider myself well versed in all things cheesy where movies are concerned, but this one caught me by surprise. However, after watching it, I was even more surprised.

B Movie Inspirations: Spacehunter, Adventures in the Forbidden Zone (1983)
Having the name Ivan Reitman associated to a film usually does not put it in the “B movie” category, but even the great producers have bad movies every once in a while. Spacehunter was one of several 3D movies that came out, trying to capitalize on the success of movies like Star Wars as well as Road Warrior. Combining elements of both movies, Spacehunter is a fairly simplistic story with pretty decent set design and production value but poor scripting as well as story writing.
The Hub Federation
The Hub Federation is a new RPG Supplement from Gypsy Knights Games . The Hub Federation is the closest thing that the Clement Sector comes to a “federation” or “stellar nation.” It has limited authority and influence but has the potential (and probably desire) to grow. It is made up of six primary worlds, centered around the capital Hub. The other systems are Wilhelmveldt, Donar, Reuschle, Sigewife, and Wellington. This is the companion sourcebook to the Subsector Surcebook 3: Hub, also reviewed here.
Cascadia Adventures 2: The Lost Girl
Cascadia Adventures 2: The Lost Girl is a new RPG Adventure from Gypsy Knights Games. The second in a series of adventures set in the Clement Sector and more specifically the Cascadia subsector, this adventure is only loosely linked to the first. The same person that hired the characters in the first adventure calls upon them again to help (as the name implies) a lost girl.
Subsector Sourcebook 4 – Sequoyah
Subsector Sourcebook 4: Sequoyah is a new RPG Supplement from Gypsy Knights Games. Over the past year, I have been given the pleasure to review many of the Gypsy Knight products connected to the Clement Sector series of books. The Subsector Sourcebook 4: Sequoyah is another book that describes in detail one of the many subsectors in Clement. I got the soft back book but this book is also available in PDF.
B Movies Inspirations: Death Machine (1994)
I found this movie after researching the last film I wrote about, Outpost and decided to research it. It has a interesting production story in that it had four different versions made because the director was never satisfied with it. It was also controversial for its time because of the psychotic behavior and drug use (wow, if they could see what we watch on TV now!).
Eclipse Phase
Eclipse Phase is a Role Playing Game Core Book from Catalyst Game Labs. I have had a few PDFs in my archives that were given to me to review but due to unforeseen life complications, I was not able to. I felt I owed those products a review and since I have started Gamer’s Codex, I have gone back in my archives and found a number of those products. Eclipse Phase is one of them. Since I received this, it is apparent that the publisher has changed hands from Catalyst Labs , reverting back to Posthuman Studios. It also won the Origins Award for Best RPG of the Year in 2010 and the ENnie Awards: Gold for Best Writing, Silver for Best Cover, and Silver for Best Product in 2010. And I am finally getting a chance to review it. Sorry it took me so long. Life!
B-Movie Inspirations: Day of the Triffids (1962)
Another movie I remember very well from my childhood days of watching way too much TV was the Day of the Triffids. I will always remember the sounds the Triffids made. Only recently did I find out (thanks to Wikipedia) that it was based on a 1951 novel of the same name and there were also several TV series based on it. However, this movie stands out to me because of certain aspects of it that were not in the book or the TV series. Some may call it an Americanization of the film while others may write it up to the era of filmmaking, but there are some aspects that I really liked about this movie.
Fading Suns Player’s Guide (Revised Edition)
Much anticipation surrounded the much fabled Fading Suns 3rd edition, at least in the circles of Fading Suns fans. Unfortunately, due to many difficult situations, 3rd edition never really made it to fruition. Instead a “revised edition” was released with fewer changes to the core system and a new approach to the format of the core rulebooks.
According to the publisher, the goal of the new edition was not to make past published material obsolete but streamline the system while maintaining compatibility. I say up front, I was not the biggest fan of the Victory Point system. In so many words, it was anti-player to me. Perhaps they did not want the players rolling skills as often as I did but I wanted my players to have a sense of accomplishment and most that played the VP system did not get that out of it. My hope with any new VP system was to make it more player friendly and fun to play.
21 Plots Too
21 Plots Too is a sequel to Gypsy Knights Games’ very creative and inspiring 21 Plots. In much the same way as 21 Plots presented you with plot ideas, 21 Plots Too does as well. The supplement presents several plots around patrons encountering a party with a starship. While 21 Plots had a few fairly eccentric and unconventional plot ideas, 21 Plots Too seems to have a few more.
