Twisted Fish is a new card game from McNeill Designs for Brighter Minds. It is a family card game inspired by the classic card game Go Fish.
From the front cover: “Guaranteed Outrageous Fun Every Game”
This game is an interesting version of Go Fish. It is a lot like the classic game but with a few twists. Assuming you know how to play Go Fish, I am going to go right into the twists.
First, the cards come in five colored suits – red, green, blue, yellow, and purple. Each card also has a type like Shark, Whale, or Shrimp. There are 13 different types, each with a cartoonie depiction of the type. There are also Zinger cards that allow the player to do special actions. These cards allow the player to dodge a rule restriction, steal an opponent’s cards, and look at other player’s cards.
Of course, in Go Fish, the goal is to lay down a matched set of any kind. In Twisted Fish, a matched set is the 5 different colors of a single type of card. This combined with the Zinger cards makes this game markedly different from the classic Go Fish. Since there is only 8 of the Zinger cards, game flow is fairly similar to Go Fish accept when one of those pops up.
In conclusion, this is a fun little variation on a classic. It is great for kids and family alike. I would highly recommend it to a casual gamer.
