Adventure 3 – Hunt World

Adventure 3 – Hunt World

BASICS

System: Beridus in the Inner Frontier

(Based on the Torg setting of Living Land)  Thick jungle heavily populated by a variety of wild beasts.  More swamp areas than actual oceans.   In the jungled areas, there is heavy tectonic activity – volcanoes, geysers, steam vents.  The land is treacherous with many hills, valleys and crags.  It is described as a planet “with growing pains.”  Frozen Ice caps.

The Sley’eth need their king.  Moonstrider knows where he is.  The King was being smuggled into Ka’Abrellian space by a freelance merchants from the Consortium when their ship – the Camalis – went down enroute.  Moonstrider has tracked the freighter to the Beridus system, on Beridus III.  He fears that the Ka’Abrel already know this information as well.

PUSH/PULL

They join Moonstrider on the hunter for the king.

The Camalis crashed in a marsh full of wildlife, natural and engineered.  The survivors (see Gimmick) were captured by a Fringer group called the Protectors (see Gimmick).  The Protectors are holding them hostage and because they tend to move around a lot, they are hide to find.

Fask’Jiit assassins are also on planet and searching for the king as well.

GIMMICK

Beridus III is also known as Hunt World IV, forth in a series of Hunt Worlds created by corporate and military elite within the Consortium.  The Hunt Worlds are amusement planets from mega-corporation executives and high level Fleet officers as well as government officials take hunting expeditions, targeting genetically engineered prey.  The Corporation behind the Hunt Worlds is Genodyne Entertainment and they design the prey from all varieties of natural predators, crossing their genetic material and creating some of the most challenging creatures to hunt.

The “King” is not actually the king, but another Olonradis who was sent to search for the real King.  He was negotiating with the merchants, trying to persuade the merchant to go into the Shatterzone to find the real Olon’Rad, when the ship dropped out of Q-space suddenly and an explosion caused the ship to crash land on Hunt World IV.

The Camalis was sabotaged by a Fleet agent posing as a crewmember.  {Fleet’s interest?}  There are 3 survivors of the crash – the saboteur, the captian and the Sley’eth Olonradis. They were captured by the Protectors

The Protectors

The Protectors are a planetary environmentalist and preservationist group with a strong anti-interference and anti-terraforming doctrine.  They terrorize corporations that exploit the natural order of planetary environments and ecologies.  They are extreme naturalists that tend to live as traditionally “off the land” without disrupting the ecology around them.  They see most mega-corporations as parasites where they are symbiotic organisms.

It is our job as Protectors of the Wilds to destroy the parasites that endanger the beauty that surrounds us.

The Protectors also have a high percentage of Psi among them.  Protector Psi’s abilities tend to be geared towards to the wild, including pheromone sensing for plants and animals of the wild.  These powers make the Protectors very dangerous when hunting them.  They will know where their hunters are anywhere they go, through the smells and reactions of the plant and animal life around them.

Protectors tend to be predominantly human because they originate from exiled environmentalist and eco-terrorist groups from Earth.  They populate many exploited planets in form of tribes, fighting attempts by the corporation to exploit those worlds any further.  They have no communication system between the tribes but when one tribe is in trouble, there seems to be an uncommon increase in others attacks.

Hunt World IV or Beridus breed of Protectors are particularly savage tribe, primarily because of their world they have to survive in.  They are also mentally unstable as well as very cunning and intelligent psychopaths.  They are nomadic, rarely staying in one place more than a day.  They have even been known to ride the plant-eater saurs of Hunt World.

The weapons of the Protectors are primitive melee and they tend to be very efficient with them.  They abilities include mental manipulation of wood and stone.  Some have become exceptionally skilled at mental forging.  The weapons they forge are quite deadly and efficient.

Genodyne Entertainment is trying to keep the presence of the Protectors secret.  Word of their existence would hurt business. So they recruit special hunt teams to hunt them down.

The Fask’Jitt

The Imperial guard of the Ka’Abrel are also on planet.  They were in search of the King when they crossed paths with Shatrat raiders who were on the trail of the Camalis.  A battle ensued and the Fask’jiit were outnumbered.  They too crash landed in the swamps.  Unfortunately, their alien tech has contaminated the swamps near their crash site and mutated some of the creatures around them. (See Helping the Protectors)

Shatrats

The Shatrats are interested in something on the Camalis.   They are on planet hunting down the crash site.

Helping the Protectors

The Protectors are willing to make a deal with the players, once they hear their story.  They just need help eliminating the alien crashed ship that is corrupting the marsh around its crash site.
