I really had to sit on this for a while, because SW TLJ is a very bold movie. It apparently has divided Star Wars fandom considerably, from the Dragon*Con fanboys down to the casual fans. I have to respect Rian Johnson for his bold moves and his attempt to make it his own tale. But…

My Other stuff on TV
Star Trek: The Motion Picture
I watched The Motion Picture again yesterday. It was the first time in a very long time. I was trying to get a better understanding of the disappointment in that movie. I was disappointed but not as viscerally as some of my older ST:TOS fan friends. There are some subtleties that I saw that might…
B-Movie Inspirations: The Drift (2016)
This is an award winning UK sci-fi space short film made Backyard Productions UK as part of the “Darkwave universe.” Set in a world where rare crystals – called Starlight Crystals – make FTL flight possible, it shows that even with a low budget and actors working for free, you can still tell a damn good story. I write about this because I really feel that this Darkwave setting REALLY needs to be written up as an RPG setting. Someone really needs to approach these guys with the idea.
Star Trek Old & New: What’s wrong?
This guy has a lot to say about Star Trek, and I largely agree. He hits on an important point about old and new Star Trek that can be applied broadly. Star Trek, however, illustrates it more poignantly because it has a considerable amount of history, as well as intelligence built into it. It also had a single man behind it…
B-Movie Inspirations: Blood Creek
Blood Creek, previously known as Creek and Town Creek, is a horror film directed by the famous (and infamous) Joel Schumacher, starring Michael Fassbender, Dominic Purcell, and Henry Cavill. Where else are you going to get Magneto, Heat Wave and Superman in one movie. Written by David Kajganich, the film apparently had a limited theatrical release in 2009. I came across it in my streaming options, and it was highly recommended by a friends. Dominic Purcell and Henry Cavill play brothers on a mission of revenge who become trapped in a harrowing occult experiment dating back to the Third Reich. Yes, Nazis, Occult and Zombies in the same movie. I am all in!
B-Movie Inspirations: The Dungeonmaster (1984)
Also known as Ragewar: The Challenges Of Excalibrate, I found this movie in an old article about old awful 80s fantasy films. And this one was pretty awful. although it had great potential. The article included several movies I had already reviewed so I decided to give this one a chance. My research found that…
The Return of The X-Files
In 2016, one of my favorite shows of all time returned to TV for a short 6 episode mini-season. Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny took up the roles they played during the 90s once again- Scully and Mulder. What concerned me was how well it would translate 20 years later. Obviously, Chris Carter felt like…
Star Trek: Discovery Premier
What is it about Star Trek that gets me fired up so much? It’s not like I was invested in the original series that much. I did get into the TOS after TNG started but I can’t say that I have actually watched EVERY episode. I did watch every episode of TNG, seen every movie, and…
Star Trek Discovery: I am very torn!
I have gone back and forth on this. I only became a hard core Star Treek fan after I was tutored by my old friend John on what is Star Trek and what is at the heart of the universe. Why I liked it so much? It was believable, tangible and made space feel so vast…
I am not the only one!
I am sorry to say that I have to agree with this guy 100%. What i like about this is that it goes beyond the same old complaint of “it’s a rehash of the first movie.” It was bad for more than that.
