SIX GENERATIONS is a new Card Game from Ted Soloview.
SIX GENERATIONS: Immigration From Europe To America Edition is an innovative card game designed and published by Ted Soloview. It is an imaginative combination of education and entertainment. The card game contains a set of 72 cards with pictures of six generations of immigrants belonging to a family who came to the United States from sixteen European nations in the first half of the nineteenth century. The last generation consists of the siblings Emily and Jacob, from the US, and the rest are their ancestors five generations back.
From the website:
“Have you ever thought why the playing cards have the King, the Queen and the Jack as the only costumed characters?”
The 72 cards have pictures of 36 men and 36 women and are divided into six different generations. Players are dealt six cards each. They play cards when the person whose picture is printed on it matches the generation of the card played by the previous player. The object of the game is for each player to get rid of all his cards. The winner is the first one to do so.
Six Generations is an interesting concept aimed at providing wholesome entertainment. However, I think I am spoiled by the type of card games I play like Management Material, Munchkin, and other of that nature. I would expect more out of a card game than what this game has to offer. The game boils down to two cards and who ever has the last those cards will win the game. I would want a chance to steal that card from a player or have that player be forced the discard the card somehow.
From the website:
“This is an educational card game for people of all ages, children and adults.”
It is a simple Uno-meets-Rummy style game. I am sure it would be a welcome addition to any family’s personal collection of games. It has educational value, as it provides useful clues to the different types of clothing worn by the people from different nations and time periods that are featured on the cards. It is simple enough to teach the young and could probably keep them entertained for at least one game.
In conclusion, although novel and somewhat interesting, I personally would not enjoy playing this game for any long period of time. It is simple and great for the family but not a game for the hardcore gamer, in my opinion. I simply could not get excited about the game.
