2.06: Operation Chillweaver (Side Adventure)
DS Day 154-210
Where: Through the Kathol Outback
Operation: Chillweaver Genesis
While in the Kathol Republic, Captain Kaiya Adrimetrum of the Farstar, at the request of First Officer Gorak Khzam, assigned the Senior Lieutenant Zebin Moyato and his Red Squad, 1st Platoon, A company, 5th Regiment, 1st Division “The Night Terrors” to “hurt Chuborro the Hutt. The crime boss ruled over a large organization that was a large part of the Kathol Sector. He was making things difficult for the Farstar in the Outback. He had just posted a bounty on the crews’ heads, and anyone that helped the Farstar in its mission. First Officer Khzam seemed to have his own motivations to take down the Hutt, but was not forthcoming with those issues. The Captain was getting tired if the so called “Lance of Endor” giving the Farstar and the New Republic a bad name in this sector. At the time, Sarne was no where to be seen, so it was an opportunity to take care of other problems.
Senior Lieutenant Moyato chose 7 of his team for the job with his second, Master Sergeant Din Wilkes, in command and requested that Mavia Tanatis, Lady Amber “The Tigress” Comark, and Breslin “The Dragon” Drake to be assigned to his command as well. He saw use for the assassin and the intelligence agents. He also pooled all local intelligence he could on the situation he was sending his men into.
The area they were going to was a not-well-known area of the Kathol Outback, called the Demon’s Handle. It included three primary systems and a few dead systems. Chuborro, according to Khzam, resided on a miserable planet called Yog’H’Toth. That planet was too hot for insertion, however, a neighboring world was more suitable for their staging area of Operation: Chillweaver (A name chosen by Moyato himself after a snake-like worm that strikes very quietly from the grasses of some dismal world he once was assigned to). This world was called Ambrox, and was the headquarters of another organization they had heard a little about; the Sabiador Slave Ring. Loh’Khar said he could persuade a few free traders to insert them there and retrieve when they needed out. This sounded good to Moyato.
Moyato’s first instinct was to find allies. The Sabiador known past with Chuborro was shaky at best, according to what the Lt. could find. Because the Sabiador dominated in this sector in the one business Chuborro had no holding in, there had been known conflicts in the past. However, the group recently had a leadership shake up after their leader died of unknown causes. It was unknown who was leading them now. Moyato wanted to investigate alliance possibilities with them first.
The Skandrei Bandits were also another choice, however, they would more-then-likely not be friendly to any New Republic interests. They had proven that by siding with the anti-NR free traders, who were convinced by the Lance of Endor-attacks that the NR was no better than the Empire. The Skandrei Bandits could be a valuable ally if they could be convinced the Night Terrors they weren’t NR.
Moyato at that moment decided that the Night Terrors would not go in as a covert NR team. Loh’Khar had to work to get them uniforms, and equipment, but the Night Terrors were soon suited up as the best facsimile of an Imperial SpecOps team they could put together. If Sarne wanted to make them look bad, they were going to reverse the tables on him. Rumors had already circulated that the Hutt had made an alliance with the Moff, so that was icing on the cake.
This was all that they could gather. Anything else would have to be gathered when the operation was initiated on Ambrox, after insertion.
Operation: Chillweaver: Initiate
The first thing to do was to put out feelers. While the two and three man teams, spread across the town of Abroxia settled in and prepared for their part of the operation, Mavia, Drake, and Comark gathered intelligence on Ambrox, and on Yog’H’Toth. Transit between the two worlds proved to be easier than they thought, on an individual basis. Loh’Khar had supplied them with enough contacts that they could get whatever documents and IDs they needed to be a normal citizen of the two worlds.
Mavia, Drake and Tigress both went out to the 3 area worlds to see what they could find on Chuborro, his local deputies and the other organizations of interest (The Sabiador Slave Ring, and the Skandrei Bandits). They also took it upon themselves to boost the Night Terror’s disguise as Imperials, and laid subtle evidence that there was some kind of secret Imperial operation going on. They used known Imperial contacts, known Imperial techniques.
They returned with the following information:
Intel on the two regional Deputies
(The 2 that operate closest to the Night Terror’s Position):
Deputy Name: Jag’Nok Orcana
Species: Houk
Territory: Marcol Rim Region, and the Outer Rim of the Marcol void, Outback side
Activities: Mercenaries and enforcers, arms dealing, assassinations, espionage
Intel Notes
Jag’Nok is an ambitious warrior who revels in his life of crime. He also is somewhat jealous of Chuborro and his power. He worries that if Chuborro gets Darkstryder, he will have too much power. Jag himself secretly seeks DS tech.
He has made deals indirectly with Analia, and in fact, would probably get along with her real well, if he knew she existed. He might meet her personally if she had something he was REALLY interested in.
Included is intel on Jag’s operations, training facilities, who and where he gets his recruits, where his HQ is, and its security measures. He is good, one of the best security experts anyone has seen. He is the one the Night Terrors have the most to worry about and the key figure to fool with the Imperial masquerade.
Organizations under his control:
- The Hagnar Guild
Location: HQ’d on Hagnar Gor (In the Marcol Rim Region) with agents through out Chuborro’s organization
A mercenary group of enforcers and arms dealers, it is the Syndicate’s primary enforcer and security force.
- The Jag’Nar Fleet
Location: HQ’d on Vigno’sh Gor in the Marcol Rim Region
A fleet of pirate ships and raiders that serve Chuborro’s needs. Made up of about 12 cap-ships, all varying sizes, most modified freighters and transports. There is one ship that is his pride and joy, a modified Nebulon B frigate. They are spread out in 2 to 3 ship task forces.
Deputy Name: Ugnog Gandris
Species: Whiphid
Territory: The Outback area beyond the Marcol Void rim.
Activities: Smuggling, information brokering, mercenaries, piracy, extortion, Outlaw tech, black marketeering, assassination, and espionage.
Intel Notes
Ug is a conniving bastard, and rivals some of the best Twi’Leks at back-stabbing. Expert truth manipulator, he is one of Chuborro’s most valued information brokers. He also rival’s Jag as a security expert.
The intel on Ug includes limited amount of his operations, which are very secret and guarded. His teams are widespread and very good at what they do. Once Chillweaver starts, the Night Terrors will have to deal with one or more of his Shadow Ring teams.
Jag and Ug play sabacc together quite often on Yog’H’Toth. They have a strong, and honorable relationship but secretly mistrust each other strongly. Both feel the other is unnecessary.
These are the organizations under his control:
- The Timbra Shadow Ring
Location: HQ’d Timbra Ott with agents through out the sector
The Timbra Shadow Ring is one of the most secretive organizations in Chuborro’s organization. It is the primary spec ops group, with it’s hands in all Chuborro’s covert operations.
- The Outback Riggers
Location: Sapella
A group of Outlaw techs Chuborro uses for his private needs. Only those he knows is allowed to use them.
As for the remaining deputies, only their names are known. The above deputies are the only ones that operate in or near the Outback.
Other Deputies:
Deputy Name: Antoss Irz Chan
Species: Herglic
Deputy Name: Bres Tambrana
Species: Devaronian
Deputy Name: Irta’Kes
Species: Noehon
Intel on Yog’H’Toth
Planet: | Yog’H’Toth |

Government: | Central Council of all the colony states, overseen by an elected President |
Tech Level: | Space |
Major Exports: | Refined Ore, manufactured goods |
Major Imports: | Raw Ore, high tech |
Star: | Yog’Hal |
Yog’H’Toth is an unfriendly world. Its atmosphere is very active and turbulent. The Society is one of the most corrupt anyone has seen, thanks to Chuborro’s presence. This is the seedier side of the Free traders. It’s a smuggler’s paradise, by Kathol standards. There are even signs that read “The Millenium Falcon docked here!!”
The world is also hazardous to high tech equipment, due the over-abundance of electrostatic charges in the atmosphere. During the harshest storms, people wear protective suits. Ball lightning is quite common on this world.
Attached is intelligence on major population centers, Areas that Chuborro seems to concentrate his business on Yog’H’Toth, and the location of his palace. His palace is heavily guarded (estimates included) and heavily armed. It has several planetary-based Turbolaser batteries installed in the mountains around his palace.
Intel: Chuborro’s background
Chuborro is one of the oldest Hutts alive. At one time, before Jabba’s death, he was retired. He came out of retirement when Jabba died, and seized power of his interests in the Minos Cluster and the Kathol Sector. For some reason, he wanted this particular portion of Jabba’s fortune and nothing else.
Chuborro is eccentric and boisterous but very reclusive. He is old and paranoid as well. The intel includes some of his known activities, when he meets with his deputies and what ships he likes to use. There is no intelligence on a regular schedule, but there are clues to what he likes to do, and when he likes to leave his palace. One thing to note is that Chuborro holds occasional galas in his palace
Intel: Sarne Alliance
It has been confirmed that Chuborro is allied with Sarne, but it seems it’s a shaky one. He has been keeping the alliance a secret from many of his deputies, only telling them that he has made a deal that will solidify their organization position in the Rim. Some in his organization would frown upon it.
In particular, on that last note, there are strong anti-Imperial sentiments in his own security force, the Hagnar Guild. There already resides a strong rumor of the alliance, but nothing has been confirmed enough to cause unrest. Many of the mercs are former Imperial slaves, or escaped Imperial prisoners.
Further information later comes in of a meeting with someone high up in Chuborro’s organization with someone high up in Sarne’s organization. The when and where is unclear, but there was talk that the Lance of Endor might be involved.
Chuborro has had a passion for owning a piece of Darkstryder recently. Whether this is part of the alliance or not is unknown. Whether he has gotten a sample of DS Tech is unknown. This may be what Sarne promised him Or if Chuborro already had some, this maybe why Sarne made the alliance.
There is also a rumor that Chuborro has made another alliance… “An outside interest…”.
Intel: The Skandrei Bandits
The Skandrei Bandits is lead by a Barabel named Vok Gan. He is very temperamental, and dangerous. The Skandrei Bandits have 8 cap-ships, heavily armed and at least 3 squadrons of fighters (hyperspace capable; A-Wing like fighters).
The Skandrei stage small raids across the Outback against local settlements, which explains the need for some many local militia fleets. They pillage the settlements, enslave a few captives, and destroy the rest. Not many know of their history, but it is rumored they are descendants of an anti-(old) Republic factions called the Union.
Intel: Sabiador Slave Ring
An informant claiming to be an Imperial loyalist approached Drake. Word of the presence of an Imperial SpecOps team has leaked out into the public already. Drake said that the informant was under the assumption that Drake represented those interests. The informant said he was representing the interests of a small organization that has Imperial sympathies.
This Informant provided information that Sabiador has split into two different factions now and that the faction they are about to be working with is in league with Chuborro. The informant suggested that any strike at Chuborro would have to include this Sabiador-faction as well.
Drake then proceeded to request the assistance of the Sabiador faction that is not loyal to Chuborro, but was refused.
The informant suggested to Drake that there are no real ‘friends’ available to him in that area of space. The only people that might be disposed to helping them are the Skandrei Bandits and the Free Traders…both of whom hate each other. However, the Bandits have absolutely no love for the Empire or the New Republic
Intel: Ghost ship – The Aiing Tii Monks
One interesting extra bit was information on the ghost ship. They are aliens that call themselves the Aiing Tii Monks. There is very little known of these aliens other than they are fanatically xenophobic, do not like being observed or spied on, and hate slavers.
Mavia’s role in Chillweaver was to act as guide, and provide covert termination assistance when needed. She used her contacts to get information about Chuborro and the other organizations involved. One of those organizations is called the Skandrei Bandits. According to her preliminary intel gathering, the Skandrei Bandits are a notorious band of cut-throats that lead raids against the Outback settlements. They steal what the can, enslave captives, and devastate the rest. They have a strong hatred of Chuborro.
While on planet Yog’H’Toth, an informant met with Mavia, and dropped information about the Skandrei Bandits. This informant approached Mavia. Mavia did not recognize him but heard him out.
“The Skandrei Bandits are NOT trustworthy. If the Bandits should ever discover that your friends are from the New Republic or allied with the Free Traders in any way, they will double-cross you in a heartbeat. They have no love for the Empire either.”
Mavia asked how this particular individual became so well informed, and all he said was “Word is out that a mission to strike the worm is in the works around here, and I heard you were a line into them. If I am wrong, consider it just an easy way to get a free drink” He did buy Mavia a drink at this particular Bar.
The Informant then proceeded to educate Mavia on the absolutely heinous activities that the Skandrei Bandits and it’s leader, Vok Gan, has engaged in, including raids on innocent settlements, and conscription of young males and females into their ranks. He suggested that it would be better if the Skandrei Leader were, in fact…eliminated. The informant even went as far as to offer the bounty of 23,000 Cr. He suggested to Mavia that the Skandrei are potentially dangerous enough to the strike against Chuborro that their complete removal from the picture might make things go more simply for them. She in turn accepted the job, unbeknownst to Wilkes.
“Of course, if the Skandrei can’t be completely eliminated, I understand…but surely the pirate leader can be taken out of the picture by someone of your renowned skills?”
She inquired further, and the informant said that her reputation proceeded her, and that he represents an organization that acts as a rival to the Skandrei Pirates and Chuborro the Hutt, that is eager to see both the Skandrei and the worm get spiked. This rival organization is described to Mavia as lying in wait to pick up the pieces and has a well-placed informant among the New Republic Farstar’s crew. She pressed for more information about this agent, but she was assured that the agent was quite benevolent.
This information proved valuable to Wilkes and Moyato’s overall plan. His plan was to put a wedge between the two deputies, and manipulate it to start a little internal underground war for Chuborro the Hutt. This required special manipulation of each of the deputies surrounding, and dissemination of certain information at the right time. It was all a part of the game, and the Night Terrors were the visiting team.
Operation: Chillweaver: The Game
The plan revolved around the Sabacc night Jag and Ug had regular. Once they found out the next game night, things were set in motion. Misinformation was distributed in key places to start rumors of a major Imperial action, as well as information about an action taken by either Jag or Ug. The plan was to be well executed and come to a head the night of the sabacc game. Jag’s fleet would play a part in the whole plan, as did several of Ug’s Lieutenants. Wilkes broke it down into stages.
(Stage 1) To create a black hole around a specific area impotan to Ug that is owned by Jag. They had to “disconnect” Ug’s spies and informant in and around a given shipyard or similar facility owned by Jag.
They found a facility; a dead moon Jag uses as a training facility for his mercenaries. It’s also a port for a majority of his convert supplies. It was a small insignificant place which is why Jag used it. It’s name was Alparan Mox, a small world near Ambrox in a otherwise dead system. The moon orbited a gas giant, the only planet in the system. There were 6 other moons. Jag’s fleet used it as a resupply point often, and a portion of the fleet uses it as a base.
(Stage 2) Research An Ug facility that could support the Jag’Nar fleet
At the appropriate time, this would be transmitted in a manner that Ugnog’s agents can intercept it. Ug used a facility on a moon of Gadella, the gas giant in the Sapellan system. It was a major outlaw tech facility, very well hidden. It is hidden among a series of old mines. Landing was a trick for larger cap-ships, but it could be done.
(Stage 3) A place the Night Terrors could use as the “gathering place for the Jag’Nar fleet” There was no real plan to get the fleet there, but it was to be used as misinformation nexus; an enigma. Sensors could not penetrate the area, and the only way to conform the rumors of a fleet gathering was too risky.
They had already encountered a small highly active nebula near Sapella, where the Farstar misjumped into.
(Stage 4) Plant information that Jag is looking for a Whiphid specific poison.
(Stage 5) On the night of the Sabacc game, assassinate, detain, and/or simply disconnect the majority of Ug’s military leaders and lieutenants.
Direct from Wilkes’ Op-Plan:
The general plan is this: Ugnog is to be convinced that Jag’Nok is going to seriously assault him the night of their regular Sabbac game. Evidence will be fabricated suggesting that the Jag’Nar fleet is readying for a full deployment. We will also plant the impression that Jag is planning to kill Ug at the game. This should be enough to make any info-broker mad with paranoia.
At the same time, rumors will be spread to the effect that there is an Imperial strike team working with Chuborro to eliminate some of the weaker, or less productive bosses, and redistribute their influence among the remainder.
The setup would take weeks, and the actual execution would happen a few nights before the game or on the night of the game. Ug will find out about the information-black hole, and the fleet movement on the night of the game, and soon after, not be able to contact any of his lieutenants. This will start the rift, and perhaps enough tension that the already precarious organization will begin to crumble. All things waited for the night of the game.
On the night of the game, things had settled into place rather smoothly, with only a few hang-ups. Mavia disappeared for a significant period of time. She was assigned to take out specific lieutenants on the night of the game, all of which were on Yog’H’Toth. She seemed to arrange it that way, with a little prodding to Wilkes. It became apparent she had her own agenda.
It was that night, they say that the Skandrei bandit leader was also assassinated. The eveidence that was left behind poined to none other than Chuborro’s own assassin, the Falleen Uluala. The Night Terrors and the Farstar never knew about the heated past Mavia had with the Fallen, and now, probably never would.
Operation: Chillweaver: The Finale
The Night Terrors ceased all operation once the Sabacc game night came and went. The operation that night went off with little problems, and all returned in one piece. The rift was started but they had no idea how wide it would get.
Chuborro was planning a meeting with Sarne and his minions at some point. After the sabacc game, and things started loosening up, it became known that the worm had plans to meet the Imperials soon, on a specific date, but did not plan to use his own fleet as escort. He had made peace with the Skandrei bandits, and planned to secretly use them as escort to the Qektoth Confederation. That information was soon disseminated into his organization. This only bolstered the rift already forming. The fact that was already strong anti-Imperial sentiments with in his fleet and his security force helped.
The final stone was the assassination of the Skandrei bandit leader. Evidence pointed to Chuborro’s own personal assassin, Uluala, but this didn’t come out until Chuborro was already on board and on his way to meet Sarne, Skandrei Bandits in escort. Of course, Wilkes had spent enough time with Mavia to at least recognize her handy-work. He wasn’t aware that she new anyone specific in Chuborro’s organization, least of all his personal assassin.
It all came to a head when Chuborro arrived at Qek’Mas in the Qektoth Confederation. He was to meet Sarne there, but soon after his arrival, the Jag’Nar Fleet arrived, demanding an explanation. The engaged the Imperials before the got an answer, and the melee was on. Soon afterwards. The Skandrei bandits loyal to the dead leader broke off and attacked both the Chuborro loyal factions within their ranks and the Jag’Nar Fleet. The Qek joined in after, followed by a militant group of free trader ships bent of the destruction of the Bandits. It escalated into a chaotic battle. The Imperials regrouped and began to make jumps out of the Qek confederation towards the Rift. They left the others to fight it out.
This battle destroyed Chuborro’s command structure. His five deputies broke off from his organization to form their own organizations, some legitimate while others remained illegal. Those that went legitimate, aligned with the New Republic. The others crawled off in the shadows, waiting for their opportunity to arise.
Operation Chillweaver was a success.
