Dhodain are a bolter race that vaguely resemble a humanoid panda bear. They came through the Shatterzone recently to simply find a new life. They are savage fighters and staunchly independent.
The Dhodain are a powerful, ursine humanoid fringe species whose black-and-white facial markings and dense fur give them a superficial resemblance to Terran panda bears. Beneath that appearance lies a species forged by instability. Originating from a tectonically violent, high-gravity world, the Dhodain evolved as migratory survivalists, becoming natural climbers, endurance hunters, and disciplined warriors. Exploration is not a profession to them-it is identity. Young Dhodain leave their birth-clans in ritual journeys called the First Horizon, venturing into uncharted systems and unstable Fold corridors as a matter of cultural necessity.
Though independent to a fault and suspicious of centralized authority, Dhodain are not chaotic. Their clan-based flotillas operate on personal honor, oath-binding, and earned leadership rather than hierarchy. In combat they are terrifyingly efficient, entering a focused state known as Stoneheart, where emotion fades and precision violence remains. Across the Expanse they are known as explorers, salvage specialists, pathfinders of hazardous routes-and, when necessary, brutally effective shock troops. They are not empire builders. They are horizon seekers.
Tactics: Dhodain explorers avoid frontal assaults unless cornered. They favor high ground, controlled engagements, and decisive strikes. If pushed into melee, they become devastating close-combatants, combining strength and stability to overpower most baseline humanoids.
