Fuddy Duddy is a new Traditional Family Card Game from Let’s Play Games LLC.

Fuddy Duddy is a family card game with 52 cards and a fairly simple premise. In each round, be the first to get a set of cards with 1,2,3,and 4 on it of the same color to gain the points. First person to 100 points wins.

From the back cover: “Choices to make. Chances to take.”

Players start the game with four cards after shuffling the 52-card deck. There is a draw pile in the middle and 4 different discard piles surrounding the draw pile – like this…

Card Play Layout from Let’s Play Games Site.

Play progresses as you draw one, play one. There are four different colors of cards (yellow, green, red, blue) all with cards representing 1,2,3,and 4. There are also wild cards that can represent any of the Fours (4s). The Fours (4s) are the most rare of the cards, so once you get one of those, it pretty much defines which way you are going. There is a twist and they are called the Dud cards. They are great to have if you complete the set of Dud cards, but bad to have if an opponent completes a set before you do.

From the website: “1,2,3,4,what are you waiting for?”

The premise to the game is similar to rummy but with a twist. I played in a 2-player game against my wife, and we both found the game somewhat interesting but repetitive. We both agreed that it probably would have been more fun with more players, as is the case with most 2-or-more-player games. It is very fast paced and would be perfect for a family game night. It is great for younger players as well as older players. It is a very easy game to learn. There is a little strategy and some element of bluffing, like in rummy. The biggest difference in this vs. rummy is that it is only four cards and can end rather quickly.

In conclusion, I liked the general idea and it seemed fun on paper. Playing it in a two-player game was not very challenging, but I can imagine it being totally different with more players. It is a great game for the kids and is along the lines of Uno in simplicity.
