Savage Sathars Part 2

While working on another adventure for a Savage Star Frontiers one-shot, I was looking at using the Sathars again and I still just don’t feel like they are all that threatening or scary. Even within my merging them into the Star*Drive Externals, I see them as just silly. Never have I really felt they were all that scary.
So a long time ago, I bought several of those old classic boxes of SF miniatures which I found out were between 20 and 25 mm scale. I get that they were not really consistent with the scale simple because it was an RPG and scale is less of a concern in an RPG. Plus there wasn’t as much an established scale in RPGs at the time.

Not perfect paints but I feel they are table ready. These are the OG Sathar minis from the original run. They vary in scale considerably.
Then I bought some knock-offs/tribute that look pretty good.

And now I have gotten into 3D printing and of course, there are plenty of fans out there making SF minis STLs. That’s when I got to thinking about a variation on the Sathars that definitely would make them more of a threat. The original STL file I used was at 15 mm scale!! Real small. I had to scale it up to 28 or 35. My first attempt was a considerable failure (see below).

Because I now can vary their size, what if they can. So now we can have small, medium and large sathars with varying abilities. Thus making sense of the OG minis and their varied size.
Here are some base stats for the various sizes and nicknames of each class.

- Produce Hypno-Bug: Royals can organically produce a organic-tech creature that can attach to a thralls neck or spin or similar location leading to the brain. This bug injects various enzymes to enhance the Sathar Hypnotic ability, making the individual thrall a slave to any Sathar.
- Tentacles (4): A sathar has four tentacle actions and Reach 1. It may lash with its tentacles for Str+d6 damage. Bound or Entangled prey may be bitten as usual.
- Armor +2 Tough Hide.
Hypnotism
A Sathar can hypnotize a character by talking to him in a non-combat situation. This ability is similar to the Puppet spell/power. The character must make an opposed Spirit roll versus the Sathar’s Spirit; if the character fails, he is hypnotized and will follow simple commands from the Sathar. If the Sathar succeeds with a raise or higher, the Sathar may command the character to attack allies and even commit suicide (however suicide allows a second opposed roll). A hypnotized character will think the Sathar is his friend, and will want to cooperate with it. He will see things the way the Sathar describes them, if his other senses do not contradict what the Sathar tells him. The Duration of the Hypnosis is the Sathar’s Spirit in Rounds or until the target is knocked unconscious. If they target has a Hypno-bug attachment, the duration is indefinite until the bug is removed.
