Inspired by the movie Splinters, while reading the adventure Servants Of The Lake in the Doors to Darkness adventure book I thought of an enhancement that made the game even creepier. For lack of a better term I will call it Spiked Moss.
The aspect of the adventure where the brothers are experimenting with creating the Avatar of Glaaki and have a few failures really opens up the possibility for more than just zombies. They Avatar is not perfect and perhaps gave birth to this ooze that is growing out of the lake. I just thought perhaps adding something else for them to worry about would make the game even more fun.
Spiked Moss
Found near the area the Avatar is forming, on the shores of the lake, it is a byproduct of the brother’s experimentation. It is an organic ooze that grows out of the lake and has grown into a moss like substance. It is spiked and injects a toxin into victims (if it can penetrate their footware) that eventually changes them into a Spiked Servitor creature (zombie) of Glaaki. [LUCK roll to avoid getting spiked. CON check to fight off the Toxin. Upon failure, the person much make a Hard Con Check each hour or be turned into a spiked zombie]
