I am taking old drawings that I have saved from my childhood, Photoshoping them while keeping them spirit of the drawing and giving them background. I drew them because I was inspired as a kid. I am trying to tap that young inspired kid and see if I can live those moments again. It’s a nostalgia thing and I am sure many my age try to do something like this from time to time. For some reason, I saved my drawings for years and scanned them in at one point. Here is one – City of Ocean-shard Islands.

Calatos IV is a world of violence and danger. Earthquakes, acid seas and volcanic lands are a way of life there. Very few colonies have survived this world except for one – the City of Ocean-shard Isles. Some say they found a sweet spot of calmness and safety on an otherwise chaotic world. Built on 6 mesa like islands jutting out the acidic sea of Hellspray, these cities are connected by hover-pathways that only the strong of heart attempt.
There are six different cities running north to south, sitting in the middle of an ocean of caustic liquid. There are no ports for naval vessels. There is no fishing. These cities were built on top of these islands because they are one of the few pure source of Krulldinian in the sector. The islands have caves systems that leads to these mines and Yasura Mining Interests have invested considerable resources to get the rare mineral.
The first city, the north-most was the first to be built and considered the capital of the overall state of the Ocean-Shard islands. It was first simply called Outpost Alpha but eventually was renamed Wave-Breaker Gate City. It is the center of governing and military amongst the Shard Cities.
The second city is called Wayward Port and is the center of trade and finance. The primary air and space port is located there, the trade guilds hold power here. All the raw ore ships converge here and the ore is loaded up to shuttles that take to the orbital stations.
The third city – Windward-Bane – is the center of entertainment and leisure. Containing massive theaters and arenas, if the hard working miners need a break, they go here. This island was the least productive mine and give up to the entertainment guilds.
Squared Peak, the fourth city is the center of scientific research and engineering. It is the core of what keeps the cities and its transit systems between the islands running. It is also the center of research and development for new mining technologies specific to Calatos IV and its unique environment.
Fort Calatos is the fifth city and by it’s name, one can tell it’s purpose. The corporate security facility was built after piracy became a big problem for YMI. It is the center of security, intelligence, and law enforcement for the cities. It is heavily shielded and armed. The main escort fleets flies in and out of the ports built into the mesa.
The Sixth and final city is just called Six at this point because it is unfinished. It is a planned mix-use city, with a focus on up-scale residential locations.
