A mysterious dimension/region of space where the Mindflayers are waging a war with an unknown enemy, using the help of the Transcendents.

Other inhabitants of the Dark Zone:

  • Kaorti – The kaorti is an alien people of emaciated humanoids from the Dark Zone with intents on turning the entire universe into a Dark Zone. (FF pg 108)
  • Rukanyr – This hideous creature vaguely resembles a scorpion with a single lidless eye and three bulbous pods with a circular rasping mouth in place of its pincers. A dozen clawed arms grow from along its back and sides, lashing frantically at the air around it. Its tail is held over its head, ending in an enormous spiked ball. This creature can be found in asteroid belts as well as on dead moons. (FF pg 144)
  • Skybleeder – The skybleeder is a terrible nightmare created by kaorti wizards to serve as mounts. When not serving as mounts, they drift lazily in space. (FF pg 156)
