Cascadia has proven to be a fairly descent hotbed of adventuring with the previous two adventures in this series and this closes it out in similar fashion. In this adventure, the players have a great opportunity to do something big for the patron throughout the series and be greatly rewarded. Or if things don’t go well, they could end up with a considerable number of enemies and perhaps be blamed for a terrible crime.

Dungeons & Dragons Starter Set
With much anticipation, the release of the 5th edition of the classic Dungeons & Dragons is upon us, with the first teaser product on the shelves – the Dungeons & Dragons Starter Set. In the interest of full disclosure, I will say that I was not a huge fan of the major changes in 4th edition nor was I a fan of the abandonment of the SRD/OGL. I liked 3rd edition a lot, although I admit over time it got bloated with way too many rules, feats and classes. I am a fan of Pathfinder but it is running into the same problem D&D 3.5 did, in my opinion. I also did not play a lot of 1st or 2nd edition when I was younger, simply because there was not a lot of opportunity. I played other things like Star Frontiers and Powers & Perils.
21 Plots: Misbehave
Forever instantiated in geek culture are the immortal words of the captain of the Firefly, “I aim to misbehave.” These simple words can inspire a variety of ideas for adventures as well as adventurers. They are quite commonly used in game sessions to announce when a party is ready to take on their mission or bad guy. 21 Plots: Misbehave makes me think of this quote every time I look at the PDF.
ConGregate 2014 Report
First year con jitters. It has been a while since I first experienced a first year con. I had forgotten the struggles it goes through to get attendance, appear attractive to the base, and the general issues first year cons go through. Con-Gregate is a little different from this perspective, however. The experience behind the staff really helps the con jump over some of the traditional hurtles a con has to deal with.
B-Movie Inspirations: P-51 Dragon Fighter (2014)
Browsing through available movies, I found a gem of a movie that I really connected with. I have been running Actung! Cthulhu all year at every convention I have been at this year, and I just finished reviewing both the Investigator’s Guide and the Keeper’s Guide. When I saw the title, I was immediately drawn to it. Also, I have focused so strongly on old cheese, I felt that some new cheese was needed. The problem is that there is so much new cheese to choose from. Anybody with a 3D rendering program and a few friends who can half-way act is putting together a monster movie of some kind. And the Syfy Channel is buying them up, no matter how bad they are. It is like they are throwing cheese at a wall and hoping something sticks to make a market for it.
Achtung! Cthulhu: Keeper’s Guide to the Secret War
Achtung! Cthulhu: Keeper’s Guide to the Secret War is a new RPG Core Book from Modiphius Games. Having reviewed the Investigator’s Guide, it is only natural to take on the next book in the series – the Keeper’s Guide. For me, as a keeper or game master, this is where the meat of the story begins. This is where the setting really comes out for me. Included in this book, among other things, are Allied and Nazi forces & intelligence agencies, Occult organizations and Mythos-based missions, new tomes, secret weapons, artifacts & equipment, key characters & vile creatures, and new rules and strategies for World War II combat & survival. Like the Investigator’s Guide review, I thought it best to go chapter by chapter and comment on each.
Achtung! Cthulhu – Investigator’s Guide to the Secret War
Achtung! Cthulhu: Investigator’s Guide is a new RPG Player’s Guide from Modiphius Games. Two of my passions are H.P. Lovecraft Cthulhu Mythos and World War II history. When these two are combined, I will dive into it head first every opportunity I have.
StormCon 2014
Mid-June found myself and my family in sweltering North Charleston, SC for another StormCon, a young and growing gaming con run by a great group of people. I had fun last year at this con and I fully intended on supporting it again this year. I signed up to run a good variety of games – 1 RPG, 1 board game, and 1 miniature game. I was really looking forward to this as a break from real life and a chance to game with some friendly faces – new and old.
Fading Suns True20 V2.
The Races Update A even more complete conversion. Added the d20 races from the Character Codex, 2 new races from other sources, updated existing races with new options. I added the Ascorbites, Etyri, Gannock, Hironem, Oro’ym, and the Shantor from the Character Codex. Against my best judgement, I even included the Oro’ym, and the Shantor….
Jack is Back!
24: Love Another Day has hit the airwaves four years after 24 ended. A 12 episode “shortened” season of Jack Bauer and his bad-ass-ness. Is it still relevant. Will this shortened season encourage a reawakening of the show? Or is this a one off, a final goodbye from Jack? I guess we shall see. Everything…
